NATIONAL INJURY INSURANCE SCHEME QUEENSLAND

Care And Support Under Your NIISQ Plan

If you or someone in your family was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland, the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) may already be funding your treatment, care and support, or you may be wondering whether it could. We are a registered NIISQ provider, so the everyday support in your plan can come from our team, in your own home, out in your community or in one of our SIL homes.

A No-Fault Scheme

Funded regardless of who was at fault, for accidents in Queensland since 1 July 2016.

WHAT WE CAN DELIVER

Trusted Support, Delivered With Understanding

We deliver the everyday supports outlined in your NIISQ plan, helping you access consistent, reliable assistance from a team that understands your circumstances and priorities.

Personal Care At Home

Showering, dressing, toileting, meals, medication and moving safely around the house, at the times you would do these things yourself. The same support workers come each visit, so nobody is relearning your routine from scratch and you are not explaining yourself over again.

Getting Back Out There

Appointments, rehab sessions, the shops, work, sport or a mate's place. We plan the trip, drive, stay with you while you're out and bring you home again. If an accessible vehicle or an extra pair of hands is needed, we sort that out beforehand.

Nursing And Clinical Care

Wound and pressure care, catheter and continence management, medication and health monitoring from registered nurses on our own team, working alongside your treating specialists and GP so that changes get picked up early, between appointments rather than at the next one.

Respite & Accommodation

Whether you need a short stay to recharge and experience a change of environment, or a longer-term supported living arrangement, we provide welcoming homes designed around your needs, goals and independence. Every stay begins with a visit so you can meet the team, explore the space and make sure it feels right for you.

NIISQ QUESTIONS

Understanding NIISQ And Whether It Can Support You

Could NIISQ apply to me or my family member?

NIISQ may apply if the injury occurred in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland on or after 1 July 2016 and meets the scheme's criteria for an eligible serious injury. This includes permanent spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple or high-level limb amputation, permanent brachial plexus injury, severe burns or permanent blindness caused by trauma.

There is no age limit, and you may still be eligible whether you lived in Queensland at the time or were visiting when the accident occurred.

NIISQ and the NDIS both provide support for people with significant disability, but they are different schemes. NIISQ is specifically for people who have sustained eligible serious injuries in certain motor vehicle accidents in Queensland. Unlike the NDIS, NIISQ is not based on functional disability alone: eligibility depends on the type and circumstances of the injury.

Yes. As a registered NIISQ provider, we meet the requirements to deliver approved supports under the scheme. This gives you confidence that your supports are being provided by a team that understands NIISQ requirements and the needs of people living with serious injury.

We work alongside your NIISQ Support Planner to understand the supports identified in your plan and help put them into action. We keep communication clear, coordinate with the people involved in your care and make sure your supports remain focused on your goals and choices.

Yes. Your location today does not necessarily prevent you from receiving NIISQ supports. If you have an approved NIISQ plan and need support outside Queensland, our team can work with you to understand your circumstances and how we can help.

If you are unsure whether NIISQ applies to you, the first step is to contact NIISQ directly (1300 607 566) or speak with your Support Planner. They can help determine your eligibility and guide you through the process. Our team can also help you understand what support may be available once your needs have been identified.
